Description
Bordering North Carolina in eastern Tennessee, Greene County was formed from Washington County, North Carolina in 1783. Originally compiled by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s, this database is a listing of cemetery tombstone inscriptions for persons buried in the county. In addition to providing the decedent's name, birth, death, and age information is often provided. In many entries relatives' names are included along with the cemetery name and location. For those Ancestry.com patrons seeking early ancestors from eastern Tennessee, this can be a helpful and informative database.
